Day 28

Got up in Jackson Tennessee and headed for the rousing metropolis of Booneville Mississippi. If yesterday was awesome, you might know today would be the cure for that. We ran into complications at our pick up and had to leave to go get more fuel for the reefer unit. The trailer we had was a piece of crap so Bigfoot had to wrestle with it to get the landing gear down and in the process, his hand slipped and his knuckles crashed into the steel beams underneath the trailer and he broke his pinkie knuckle. His hand immediately started to swell, he almost passed out, and he cannot move his fingers. It got worse and worse throughout the day. Even his palm turned blue. No question he broke it. He is miserable.
We went back through Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, and into Illinois on our way to Chicago.

Heading into Illinois

Somewhere in Illinois-can't remember, I think near the state line?

I thought I found it, but nope, no money here.

We stopped in Mt. Vernon Illinois at a TA and had a new experience………..IdleAire. Its this adapter that you put in the window and hook up this giant hose and little electronic box. It pumps heat or cool into the truck so you don’t have to idle the truck. It costs about the same as fuel, but the little box has all kinds of things on the touch screen. You can hook a phone up to it and talk on the phone. You can plug electrical appliances into it. You can also hook your computer up to the ethernet or you can get wifi on it too. It has a little touch screen and if you hook a co-ax cable to it and your TV, you can watch cable TV and even rent movies on it. It was very cool. Not really any cheaper than fuel, but with more features, plus it is quiet. We will probably use it again.

Bigfoot went to sleep and I typed for about 4 hours. Everything worked like a charm…THANK GOODNESS!
